Regrid started in 2009 as Loveland Technologies, founded in Detroit by Jerry Paffendorf during the depths of the city's foreclosure crisis. The original mission was hyperlocal and civic minded: help Detroit residents use parcel data to fight back against widespread vacancy, blight, and tax foreclosure, a hands on grounding that shaped how the company thinks about property data ever since. That early work evolved from custom mapping projects and professional services into a data as a service model once demand grew for raw, standardized parcel data delivered outside of any particular piece of software.

That shift paid off. Regrid built the first ever complete, 100 percent parcel coverage map of the entire United States, later expanded into Canadian parcels, and became Esri's commercial partner for parcel data. Its Premium Parcels product bridges property and geography at the parcel level, combining standardized ownership, zoning, building, and address attributes with geographic enrichments, delivered via API, bulk files, cloud platforms, Esri feature services, or more recently an AI ready MCP connection. Regrid still runs Data With Purpose and Regrid Giving, extending its original civic roots by supporting nonprofit, academic, conservation, and research access to parcel data, even as its commercial customer base has grown to span real estate, insurance, energy, and government sectors relying on parcel level data as the foundational layer for location decisions.
