OneSoil traces back to 2014, when Slava Mazai and Usevalad Henin met at an agricultural exhibition in Minsk. Mazai, a programmer with a drone photography hobby, and Henin, a GIS specialist, started taking aerial photos of fields for farmers and turning them into fertilizer application maps. The two worked without pay through 2015 and 2016 until an AI hackathon connected them with an investor who pushed them toward a different approach: satellite imagery instead of drones, and a free web platform instead of one off consulting jobs. That pivot became OneSoil, officially founded in 2017, using European Space Agency Copernicus Sentinel data chosen for its free access, frequent revisit times, and 10 meter resolution, fine enough for field level analysis.

The free farmer facing app now has more than 300,000 users covering roughly 5 percent of the world's arable land, distinguishing 20 crop types and delivering insights on crop health, productivity zones, and variable rate fertilizer application at no cost. That same underlying satellite and machine learning pipeline also powers a commercial side of the business, OneSoil Global Analytics, which sells field level agricultural intelligence, including crop detection, yield forecasting, and supply chain monitoring, to food companies, traders, financial institutions, and governments, with data the company says arrives roughly 8 months ahead of official government statistics.
